Biography

Hi there, my name is Daniel Jones and I write action thrillers in the creature feature niche. I do both series and standalones that blend elements of the Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction genres.I have been writing ever since I was a kid, and I can remember “Dinotopia: A Land Apart From Time” being what started it all. Then as time went by, I became a huge Michael Crichton fan. “Congo” and “Sphere” are my favorites from him, and I’ll always cherish my signed copy of “The Lost World”.Growing up all over the world as an air force brat gave me a different view of the world, learning history and mythologies from a different perspective.Creature features have always been a big part of my life, no matter where I moved there were always monster movies on TV, there were always dinosaurs in museums, there were always local legends with some sort of monster. Animals, nature, and Scouting are also a big part of my life, I started as a Tiger Cub Scout and went all the way to Eagle w/ palms. I spend a lot of time in parks, zoos, aquariums, campgrounds... The outdoors rule!All of that has influenced my storytelling, and what I want to do with my writing. I write stories that are entertaining, explore survival, and will break characters down to the very core of who they are when nothing else matters and the situation is life or death. The monsters/creatures I write about will feel alive, instinctual, and have their own way of doing what they do. They’ll feel like wild animals doing what wild animals might do.
